Producer’s Note
"Producing a diving episode is one of the more technically challenging shoots you can do, especially in the Puget Sound with quickly changing currents where you have only an hour or so window to shoot every dive. The underwater camera housing that we rented had spent the last year on a production in the Antarctic. It was the only one of it's kind available on the West coast at the time. Unfortunately it arrived on our production missing a filter bracket that helps compensate for the unusually green water of the Puget Sound. As a result we ended up shooting over two weekends instead of one. The divers Phil, Kirsi, Jamie, Jon, Debbie and Jonathon were all so flexible and helpful in making this episode happen."

Diving
It really is a whole other world underwater, which explains why it is so appealing to so many people. The Puget Sound is a unique place to dive, with logistics like current, visibility, and water temperature always playing a big role. But for the experienced diver, it is also an amazing place to explore!

Logistics
Most dive sites in the Puget Sound are only accessible by boat. Also, for drift diving, a dive boat is essential to follow the current. Having a large group of experienced divers is really the best way to experience this area, especially considering the amount of time spent above the water! Most days consist of 2-3 dives, usually timed around slack, so there is plenty of time to relax on a dive trip.

DIY
Diving is very gear intensive, so the best way to try this out is to rent gear. It is also very dangerous, so proper training and experience is essential. There are many training organizations and dive schools available all throughout the world. A good place to start is to find a local dive shop.
