Icicle Creek

Leavenworth, WA

Whitewater Kayaking
Kayaking is perhaps the most intimate way to experience the power of a river while still having some measure of security and safety. Leif and Daniel find themselves in some pretty rough water while boating Washington's Icicle Creek and the Wenatchee River.

Logistics
The sections of both rivers in this episode have good road access, making scouting and portaging a fairly easy process. Both rivers also have rapids that are generally considered unrunnable, so scouting and a level head are essential.

DIY
The Leavenworth area has a large variety of lodging and food options, and is also very close to these rivers. For the budget traveller, there are several (developed and undeveloped) campsites along Icicle Creek. There are also several rafting companies in town that offer guided trips on nearby whitewater.
