Producer’s Note
"Mammoth Mountain and the surrounding landscape have such varied and beautiful features. One of the production challenges was riding in the pumice that the mountain is covered with. On the one hand, it had a nice soft feel to it. On the other hand, it's still rock when you hit the ground. Lets just say I slept on my left side for a couple months after this one."

Mountain Biking
It's easy to see why mountain biking is one of the most popular methods of outdoor recreation. Chris and Steve head up to Mammoth Mountain for a weekend of lift accessed riding, but rain forces them to change plans and try a new area. Luckily, finding a fun new trail is a pretty easy thing to do with this sport.

Logistics
Mammoth is a short 5 hour drive from Los Angeles, making it a very popular weekend destination. Lift and shuttle access makes it very easy to cover a large amount of terrain in a single day, from big drop downhills to rolling cross country.

DIY
Mammoth Mountain, known for it's skiing, is also a top quality mountain biking destination during the summer. There are many lodging and dining options in town, and plenty of trails to be found in the area. Rent a bike, or bring your own, but be warned: you won't want to go home (even if it starts raining)!
