Lost Arrow Spire

Yosemite National Park

Climbing
Yosemite Valley is known worldwide for the quality and quantity of long rock climbing routes. While Lost Arrow Spire is actually a fairly short climb, its dramatic setting and distinct summit experience make it an obvious target for climbers.

Logistics
Climbing Lost Arrow Spire is possible directly from the valley floor, but most parties opt to hike in and just climb the Spire itself. While it is a fairly straightforward aid route, it is not recommended as a beginner's route, for obvious reasons: The exposure and commitment required to complete this route demand planning, experience, and a cool head!

DIY
There are many campgrounds and lodging options in and around Yosemite Valley. However, most of these are fully booked months in advance during most of the year. So, to limit time spent looking for a place to sleep it's a good idea to make a reservation for your trip in advance. Or, try the walk-in camping at Camp 4, which has been a climber hang-out for decades. Better get in line early, though! Climbing guidebooks are readily available, or you can even arrange a guide climbing guide at the Mountaineering School in Curry Village.
